Cickay (called "CK"), RM 2/C, USS Hornet CV-12, Born 5 Feb 1923 in Perth Amboy, NJ. Enlisted Navy 9 Dec 1942 at NYC. Boot Camp at NTS Great Lakes, IL.a Assigned to Radio NTS, University of Chicago, IL and Naval Radio Station, Annapolis, MD. On 27 Oct 1943, joined USS Hornet CV-12 Group at Newport News, VA, commissioned 29 Nov 1943, became PLANK OWNER, and shoved off post-haste to Pacific Theatre. Transferred from Hornet to Staff of Commander, Second Carrier Task Force (Vice-Admiral John S. McCain) on 19 Aug 1944 to USS Wasp CV-18 at Eniwetok; on 17 Nov 1944 to USS Hancock CV-19 at sea, and on 18 May 1945 to USS Shangri-La CV-38 at Ulithi. On 8 July 1945, transferred at sea to USS Rescue AH-18 for medical reasons. Discharged after war ended at USN Special Hospital, Asbury Park, NJ on 11 Jan 1946. Authorized the following medals: Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with one silver star and three bronze stars, Philippine Liberation Medal with two bronze stars, Navy Commendation Medal (from Admiral W.F. 'BULL" Halsey), Presidential Unit Commendation Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Medal with one star, American Campaign Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal and World War Two Victory Medal.
